The North Bay Symphony is the largest producing arts organization in the region and we are committed to supporting music education in the community and within local schools through three main programs:
Symphony String School - private lessons for violin, viola, cello, and guitar students of all ages and all abilities and the opportunity to rehearse and perform in small ensembles (String Squads) throughout the community.
Symphony in the Schools - NBSO musicians visit area classrooms from Grades 1 through 6 to deliver music education programs that meet curriculum requirements.
A Young Person's Guide to the North Bay Symphony Orchestra (2018)
The NBSO Board of Directors has produced a 12-minute educational video for teachers, children, and parents/guardians in which they seek to introduce the viewer to the North Bay Symphony Orchestra, the String School, and the Youth Orchestra. They have also developed a set of discussion questions which can be used in conjunction with the film. The video, transcript, and discussion guide have also been translated into French.
