Artistic Committee

Musical Director & Conductor Thomas Jones was born in Sudbury, Ontario where he began his string training with Dr. Metro Kozak. Thomas has received a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Master of Music in Performance from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Throughout his studies and professional career, Thomas has collaborated with Principal members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Toronto Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Berlin Philharmonic and many more. He has also worked with such celebrated conductors as Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach, Pierre Boulez, Pinchas Zuckerman, Mstislev Rostropovich, and has been a featured soloist in both the U.S. and Canada.

Thomas maintains a large private studio and directs the Symphony String School in North Bay. Mr. Jones is currently the music director for the North Bay Symphony Orchestra and music professor at Nipissing University. He is also a very active performer of solo, chamber and orchestral music and is in demand as an adjudicator and clinician. Thomas has been honoured by the Ontario government for outstanding career achievements and many contributions to the community and the province.
