How to purchase tickets

SINGLE TICKETS for all performances can be bought online through the Capitol Centre website by visiting www.capitolcentre.org and choosing any

of the North Bay Symphony performances.

 

SERIES SUBSCRIPTION TICKETS must be purchased through the Box Office (not online) by calling 705-474-4747 or visiting in person at 150 Main Street East. The Box Office is normally open Tuesdays to Fridays from 12pm to 4pm. If you call and leave a message, one of the Assistants will get back to you.

- All ticket prices include HST and are subject to Box Office handling and carrying charges.

- CHILDREN 10 & UNDER ARE ADMITTED FREE with a corresponding Adult or Student ticket purchase.

Featuring virtuoso North Bay pianist Chloe Weston on Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 21, this autumn-themed performance also presents works from three outstanding Canadian composers, including Godfrey Ridout’s classic Fall Fair and Christine Donkin’s lovely Three Autumn Scenes. Grieg’s bombastic overture Im Herbst (In Autumn) rounds out this colourful program.

Our first chamber event of the season features exciting staples from the string quartet and brass quintet repertoire. Pieces to be performed include Morley Calvert’s colourful setting of French-Canadian folk melodies, Suite from the Monteregian Hills, and Mozart’s String Quartet no. 20, written for his friend and publisher Franz Anton Hoffmeister.

ONE MAGIC (CANADIAN) CHRISTMAS

Highlighted by Abigail Richardson-Schulte’s beautiful setting of the classic Canadian story The Hockey Sweater and a suite from Michael Conway-Baker’s score to the 1985 film One Magic Christmas, this Canada-centered performance shares the joy and magic of the winter season. Also featured are Coleridge-Taylor’s Christmas Overture, Humperdinck’s Evening Prayer and Dream Pantomime, and music from The Polar Express.

BRAHMS AND ELGAR

Canadian Mezzo-Soprano, Nicole Percifield, joins the NBSO for an evening of late 19th-century masterworks. Elgar’s stunning Sea Pictures anchors this program of rich harmony and vivid colour alongside two of Brahms’ best-known orchestral works, Academic Festival Overture and Variations on a Theme by Haydn.

MENDELSSOHN OCTET

We are excited to finish our concert season with Felix Mendelssohn’s Octet in E flat major. This tour de force for strings fully qualifies as a chamber music masterpiece, and was, amazingly, written when the composer was only 16 years old.
