Capturing a specific moment in time, Olivier Messiaen wrote his "Quatuor pour la fin du temps" for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano while a prisoner of war in German captivity, and it was first premiered by his fellow prisoners. The program also includes selections from Clarinet Sonata No. 2 in E-flat Major by Brahms, the final two movements of Beethoven's "Archduke" Piano Trio in B-flat Major, and a re-imagining of NBSO Concertmaster Calvin Cheng's electroacoustic piece "Time."
